Overview

Osteria del Milione is a standout Tuscan restaurant perched just outside Florence, nestled along Via di Giogoli in the scenic hills. Surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, this family-owned estate offers more than just a meal — it delivers an immersive experience into the heart of Tuscany’s rich culinary tradition.

The restaurant’s setting is truly enchanting. By day, expansive views of Florence unfold beneath you; by night, the softly lit courtyard creates a magical ambiance that enhances every dish. Whether dining indoors or outside, guests are embraced by a warm, unpretentious atmosphere that feels both intimate and authentically local, appealing to travelers and locals alike who seek genuine Tuscan flavors away from the typical tourist bustle.

The menu highlights are a testament to regional excellence. Traditional dishes such as the Bistecca Fiorentina—a perfectly grilled Florentine steak—and the earthy Tagliolini al Tartufo showcase the kitchen’s respect for quality ingredients and skillful preparation. Starters like Salumi Misti e Formaggi Toscani and Crostini Toscani bring the essence of Tuscany’s charcuterie and rustic flavors to the table, while unique offerings like Peposo su Crema di Cannellini intrigue with their creative twists on classics.

Adding to the culinary delight is the curated selection of wines, including the bold Vino Il Puttano and the house specialty Vino Della Casa, perfectly paired with dishes to elevate the meal. Enthusiasts will appreciate the thoughtful wine choices that underscore the Tuscan terroir. For a leisurely finish, dessert options such as Cantucci al Cioccolato e Vino Santo and delicate Panna Cotta create moments of pure indulgence.

Service throughout Osteria del Milione is characterized by warmth and attentiveness, reflective of its family-run ethos. Guest reviews attest to staff accommodating last-minute visits and offering personalized touches, such as presenting the Florentine steak before cooking, which enriches the dining experience. While minor improvements in pace and attentiveness have been noted, the overall hospitality is genuine and respectful.

The restaurant’s target audience includes food lovers wanting to explore Tuscany’s culinary heritage, couples and groups seeking a memorable meal with stunning scenery, and travelers staying nearby at the associated Il Milione Hotel. It’s a place where both the food and the setting work in harmony to create lasting impressions, perfect for those who value authenticity over polished tourist spots.

In summary, Osteria del Milione is a Tuscan gem that combines breathtaking views, exceptional traditional cuisine, and heartfelt hospitality. Its carefully curated menu offers a rich tapestry of flavors that invite patrons to savor the essence of the region, making it an unmissable stop for anyone visiting Florence and its enchanting surroundings.

We visited this Restaurant during our stay at fattoria resort. It s authentic tuscan restaurant. Great atmosphere both inside and outside. Staff excellent - we just walked in only for desserts without reservations. They accommodate all 7 of us and provided excellent service. . We enjoyed chess cake, wine & biscotti, panacot of the day. It was so delicious. You get to see whole city litted from the top.

My local friends brought me here on a Wednesday night, and it was such a wonderful surprise. Perched on a little mountain above Florence, the restaurant has a beautifully lit courtyard that sets the tone as you walk in. At night it felt magical, but I imagine the daytime views would be even more spectacular. We sat inside, where the service was warm, friendly, and perfectly attentive. Everything ran smoothly from start to finish—we never had to wait. The staff even brought out the Bistecca alla Fiorentina before cooking it, which made the experience feel extra special. We shared la degustazione per 2 persone, the house-style mushroom risotto (risotto alla maniera del ‘Milione’), the famous Florentine steak, roast potatoes, and sautéed spinach. Every dish was packed with flavor and beautifully prepared. It was a truly memorable evening, and I’d love to return one day to explore even more of their menu. A gem just outside Florence that’s well worth the hype.

One of the best dining experiences I’ve had. Such a warning staff, plus it is a family owned restaurant, vineyard, & estate which sits in the hills outside of Florence overlooking the city. Delicious food, amazing family atmosphere. We did not see any tourists, it was a special experience. Definitely coming back.

Beautiful view and wonderful food! I stayed with the il Milione Hotel on the same property and went here for dinner. I tried the zucchini flan, the Beef with truffle, and the stuffed rabbit. The food was delicious. The view was so good that I returned the next morning for sunrise. Beautiful!

The food, venue and atmosphere is exceptional. One of the best restaurants I’ve experienced in Italy. And it’s well priced considering the quality of what you get. I had some steak from the bbq, and it was perfection. The side dishes have simple presentation with wonderful flavours. I knock one star off on service wasn’t as attentive as it could be - I had to call the staff over quite a few times to move the evening on, but staff were all polite and accommodated my attempts at Italian. As other reviews mention, tourists do appear to be seated under the tree away from the views, but it didn’t bother me. Italians were seated there too when I was there, and there are views everywhere around - you can walk for 10 seconds to see a view. If I was a regular guest, whatever my nationality, I expect I would get bumped up to a better seat! Thank you.

Perfect Tuscan small-town atmosphere! Restaurant is independently owned, bit located on the property of a 120 acre estate. You can access it from the street or you can access it from inside the olive orchards. The back of the restaurant that can be rented from the main estate. The Faktori Il Milione estate itself is from 1300's and has apartments & rooms that make you feel like you stepped back into 16th century!
